Holiday cottage utilises Elfin for vibrant kitchen scheme

When the owners of ‘1855 Wash House’ in Skipton, Yorkshire, decided to refurbish their Victorian holiday cottage, they turned to Elfin Kitchens for a robust, colourful and practical solution. The open plan property needed to provide guests with food storage and preparation, as well as full cooking facilities in a compact space, which made the Premium 1500 range from Elfin the perfect choice. The specific model (M-150 MOS-RC) featured a built-in 30L combination microwave, oven and grill, an integrated refrigerator, two ring hob, as well as a sink and drainer.

I like every aspect of the kitchen; it looks great

Samantha Bollen, owner of ‘1855 Wash House’, selected Elfin Kitchens for a variety of reasons, as she explained: “The main consideration was the limited space available in the kitchen area. So, I set about looking for a compact, modular kitchen that was different from the traditional cabinet options. However, I wanted a product that would not only look great in the cottage but also be able to withstand regular use by guests throughout the year.

“After a quick online search, I found Elfin, so immediately contacted them to discuss the project and they took me through the options. Initially, I thought I’d need to install a model with a 5-function oven but, instead, Elfin advised me to opt for the Premium 1500 kitchen with a combination microwave, oven and grill – as this was the most practical option for short stay guests. They were completely right, as it offers the perfect balance between quick and easy cooking and day-to-day practicality.”

A key design criterion for the refurbishment project was to utilise vibrant colours throughout the property to make it a warm and welcoming space for guests. This has been reflected by the Premium 1500 kitchen being finished in a ‘Claret’ colour, an inviting red that makes the kitchen an eye-catching feature of the room.

Samantha continued: “I knew I wanted something different, which would make the space interesting. Elfin offered to send me some sample chips, so I could match the colours with other interior features and, as soon as I saw the Claret red, I knew it would be ideal.”

Summing up her thoughts on Elfin, Samantha added: “I like every aspect of the kitchen; it looks great, it’s incredibly practical and durable, plus, from a practical perspective, it was so easy to install. Everyone at Elfin has been incredibly helpful throughout the project and I’m delighted with the impact it has made on the cottage’s kitchen area. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Elfin Kitchens.”

The Premium 1500 range of kitchens incorporates high-quality appliances, including a refrigerator, sink and tap, plus a choice of solo or combination
microwave, oven and grill. In addition, Premium 1500 models are supplied with optional soft close drawers and/or ceramic hotplate.

All Premium 1500 models are also available in a range of colours, from gloss powder-coated White and Claret, to matt powder-coated Sand and Bronze.

Elfin’s compact kitchens save space and offer great flexibility, with right or left-hand versions available. In addition, the kitchens can be quickly installed on site, arriving in a single pallet which offers a ‘plug and play’ solution.
