Modern offices utilise Elfin Kitchens

When the owners of Lynderswood Court, Essex, decided to reconfigure the layout of the building and embark on a complete refurbishment to create modern new offices, they were in need of practical and durable compact kitchens to suit the daily needs of the occupants – and Elfin Kitchens proved to be the perfect choice.

To complete the conversion of Lynderswood Court from a country hotel to offices, the new owners, Lynderswood Park Ltd, turned to Cambridge-based Barber Casanovas Ruffles (BCR) Architects. The brief was to maximise the layout of the building and create new offices that would attract local business. As a result, the suites have been designed to be sympathetic to the property’s key structural elements, offering light and airy spaces that suit the needs of modern commerce.

An important element of the brief was to incorporate kitchens that could provide food storage alongside basic preparation and cooking facilities. However, in order to limit spillages or damage to the kitchens, the client requested to not include hotplates. After consulting with Elfin Kitchens, BCR Architects specified a selection of ‘Premium’ models, which each incorporated a built-in refrigerator, 20L solo microwave, storage drawers, sink, drainer and upgraded tap. These were supplemented by wall cupboards for additional storage and stainless steel splashbacks for a clean, contemporary finish throughout. With each suite varying in size and capacity, the kitchens were sized accordingly, with smaller offices utilising the 1000mm Premium model, and larger layouts incorporating either 1200mm or 1500mm versions to offer more built-in storage.

All kitchens have been fitted in dedicated alcoves out of view from the main offices. However, by utilising Elfin’s optional colour palette, the kitchens provide a bold contrast to the modern interiors, with either Apple Green, Claret or Sand chosen for each suite.

Commenting on the project specification, Lead Architect, Beata Zygarlowska, said: “The client requested simple and practical kitchenettes to be part of the fitout, but they also needed to be a contemporary design in a variety of colours. The units from Elfin were the ideal choice for the project, allowing us to select individual units to fit the various space requirements of the offices.”

The owners of the property, Lynderswood Park Ltd, have been particularly pleased with the integration of the kitchens, as Fiona Waugh, Director, explained: “When we were first shown the Elfin Kitchens, we thought they were perfect for the new office suites, offering a blend of great looks, practicality and long-term durability – all of which are really important to us when letting the office suites.
