20 bespoke Cupboard Kitchens from Elfin Kitchens have been fitted throughout a range of converted shipping containers and purpose-built modular pods, which are being used as portable offices throughout the UK for WeBuyAnyCar (WBAC). The finished units are now located onsite in a variety of supermarket and retail outlets. The installations were overseen by Liverpool-based Bootle Containers Ltd – a company renowned for its work designing and manufacturing bespoke shipping containers and modular buildings in a wide range of industries – which had used Elfin Kitchens on a number of past projects.
Elfin’s Cupboard Kitchens are neat, pre-built, all-in-one steel units that keep the kitchen itself hidden from view when not in use. A key part of the specification criteria was that each container needed to be entirely self-sufficient, including having its own water supply. As a result, the kitchens had to be modified to include two 10L fresh (clean) water drums and a 25L waste water tray, in addition to the standard cooking and cleaning facilities.
Commenting on the kitchens, Alan Mawdsley, Project Design & Sales Manager, Bootle Containers Ltd, said: “We first worked with Elfin back in 2017, when the quality of their products opened our eyes to new avenues when fitting out modular buildings. So, when it came to the WBAC project, we showed the customer some photos and Elfin Kitchens were the number one choice. Buying and fitting the products was super easy and straightforward.”
He continued: “All the units had to be finished within a tight six-week timeframe, then sent straight to site – usually supermarket car parks or dedicated areas of land. When it transpired the kitchens would need to be self-sufficient in terms of water supply, this wasn’t an issue – we simply contacted Elfin, where the team helped us create a bespoke solution while remaining within budget and the allocated timeframe. The Cupboard Kitchens met WBAC’s requirements perfectly; staff can now make customers a cup of tea or heat up food in the microwave without having to go off site, we really can’t praise the Elfin team highly enough.”

Ideal for offices and workplaces where a kitchen needs to hidden from view, the Cupboard Kitchen is a steel cupboard unit with a durable white powder coated finish. It boasts double-walled doors and sides with stainless steel bar handles for a high quality finish. The doors have magnetic closures and a safety shut-off for the hob, while there are two shelves – one fixed and another that can be adjusted for height. The kitchen unit inside has a stainless steel pantry top, complete with built-in bowl, waste kit, a choice of solid hotplate, ceramic hob, induction hob or tea station top, as well as a fridge and a left or right-sided sink. Units are also available with a combination microwave, oven and grill, plus integrated dishwasher.
These kitchens are delivered assembled and ready to plug in for quick and simple installation.
